Thom Southern - 'Suzanne I’m Sorry'
Thom Southern shares fizzy slacker single ‘Suzanne I’m Sorry’ from debut album ‘Plaza’.
Closing his debut record, the shoegaze inspired new single 'Suzanne I'm Sorry' is three and a half minutes of enchanting slacker rock. Thom’s smooth falsetto vocals soar pleasing over celestial synths and perfectly messy guitar riffs. Fans of My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr. and The Smashing Pumpkins will find joy in the sonic landscape Thom has carefully crafted with this release.
Explaining 'Suzanne I'm Sorry' in more detail, Thom offers, "Lyrically I kept things very simple and to the point. Through the use of a song there is an apology, reaching out to an old love and trying to reconnect with that person. I recorded the track in my Liverpool apartment along with the other tracks on my debut album with some minimal recording gear to keep things raw and meaningful."
Thom’s previous work has yielded praise from the likes of Clash Magazine, BBC Introducing and Radio X. He has worked with a range of legendary producers including Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elliott Smith, Foo Fighters).
‘Suzanne I’m Sorry’ is the perfect blend of melodic and poignant melody writing, with dissonant and frenetic drums and guitars. It’s slacker rock at its most effective.
