Festival News: Neighbourhood Weekender add over 30 new names
Warrington’s Neighbourhood Weekender have added to their already star-studded 2022 line-up. With over 30 new names joining the likes of Courteeners, Kasabian and Blossoms, the final weekend in May is shaping up to be one to remember.
Saturday has been graced with the likes of James Bay, The Academic, Red Rum Club, Pip Blom, and NOISY. On Sunday, names such as Razorlight, The Rills, The Rifles, and Retro Video Club (all the ‘r’s!) have joined the ranks. Sunday is also hosting Wales’s finest, Manic Street Preachers, amongst the aforementioned headliners in what could be an evening for the festival history books.
Also joining the line-up are some of the most talented upcoming artists, all of which will be well worth giving time to. Having just placed second in the BBC’s Sound of 2022, dynamic duo Wet Leg are taking to the stage on Saturday. Two of my favourite acts from last year’s festival, The Reytons and Baby Queen, are making a return, and they will no doubt be delivering performances just as mind blowing as 2021’s.
If, like me, you've had GAYLE’s ‘abcdefu’ stuck in your head for days, you may be pleased to find the singer also making an appearance on Saturday. No matter what your feelings are on viral TikTok sounds, it may be a grand experience to witness the song on such a huge scale.
Scouting for Girls will be joining Sunday’s line-up, too. With the already announced Example performing on Saturday, catching these two in the same weekend will be the perfect throwback to 2010 - and your year 7 playlists will certainly love you for it.
Despite its reputation as an indie festival, Neighbourhood Weekender has somehow managed to find the perfect balance between appealing to their demographic and incorporating something for all tastes. Finding another offering such great variety and quality will be a challenge, and you’ll be kicking yourself if you miss it - where else are you going to catch music legends, important ones to watch, and your childhood favourites in the span of just one day?
Neighbourhood Weekender will take place at Victoria Park, Warrington on the 28th and 29th of May. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased from Neighbourhood Weekender’s official site.
