Matt Taylor - 'April 13th'
Matt Taylor exposes ex-lovers true intentions in gripping new single ‘April 13th’.
Originally from Dublin, Ireland, now based in Brighton, Matt Taylor is an Indie Pop artist with mesmerizing songwriting, inspired by artists such as Taylor Swift and Lorde. The previously released single ‘GODSPEED’ was described by Clash Magazine as ‘music that feels as though it has been beamed in from the future,’ and Radio 1 described the track with one word – ‘intoxicating.’
Following the release of ‘no matter what I say’ Taylor’s third single just this year, comes the gripping and heartbreaking ‘April 13th’. Delicate fingerstyle acoustic guitar accompanies Taylor’s raw vocals as he exposes the truth of his ex-lover's intentions, calling him out for not being honest.
Revealing the track's story, Taylor says, “I knew where the conversation was ultimately going to go, but I was kind of shocked by how dismissive he was of it all. It was so confusing to me that everything was changing, from why it had all happened in the first place to why he even spent time with me.”
Distraught, Taylor’s heartache shows as he sings ‘It’s a quarter to midnight, we’re still walking through London, But you said it’s only cause you’ve got nothing better going on with your friends’. Delayed harmonies fill the room as Taylor’s anger bursts out. Ending the track with just guitar shows vulnerability from Taylor as he puts his feelings on display, unlike the person of interest.
Matt Taylor is starting the year strong, so expect to hear more insane tracks and prepare to have your hearts stopped by his straightforward and truthful lyrics.
