Mia Berg - 'I'll Never Leave You'
“I’d love to be a victim of your heart” croons the hook of ‘I’ll Never Leave You”. Mia Berg’s latest single encapsulates the life you live in your 20s - chaotic yet optimistic and hopeful, all at once.
Uplifting and gripping, Oslo-based artist Mia Berg returns with her newest single ‘I’ll Never Leave You’. In her own words, it is “the perfect song to soundtrack you marching along the street as the sun shines.”
Jangly acoustic guitars, synths, layered vocals, and catchy percussion are led righteously by Berg’s smooth vocals. With this full-band sound, the sonic experimentation is reflective and impactful in its subtlety. Reminiscent of modern artists like Soccer Mommy, Holly Humberstone and Haley Blais - Berg fits right into the new wave of women in music.
“No one tells you how to be okay.” This lyric in the bridge hits hard. Berg collects moments of the messy world that often characterises your 20s. Moments are fleeting and emotions run high, but friends are your rock in times of need. On the single, she says, "It’s a story I wanted to tell through a lot of lyrical images," Berg continues, "At the start of the song I pictured someone standing in a garden screaming at each other, or in the second verse 'we're swimming, in an ocean only you’ve seen' It's just these glimpses of chaos and desperation. I think it's something everyone can relate to - having a phase of struggling or doubt, and the importance of having friends to lean on through those moments in life."
Berg’s readiness to use rare moments and turn them to song will certainly resonate with her audience. To share so candidly about one’s experience is what makes for such impactful records. Berg will undoubtedly play a part in ushering a new wave of artists who will set new rules for what it means to make music in our modern world.
