As the days darken, it’s important to have something bright on the horizon — and 2000trees have just provided that with their first announcement…

Pumpkins are appearing in shops, there are Halloween masks already in windows, and some truly unhinged people are already putting up Christmas decorations — 2024’s somehow already just around the corner. But with it comes one of the most exciting periods of the years, at least where music’s concerned: festival announcements! And 2000trees, one of the nation’s most beloved festivals, has already leapt into the fray with their first headliner announcement: The Gaslight Anthem.

Arguably one of the most essential bands of the past twenty years, led by the introspective and immeasurably talented lyricist Brian Fallon, their soulful, engrossing and stirring brand of rock-punk — fuelled by a mixture of Springsteen-esque angst and the general pain and ennui of the turn of the century — is timeless. And now, finally, after ten years of near begging for an appearance, 2000trees have confirmed that The Gaslight Anthem will be headlining the Thursday of 2000trees.

This announcement comes off the back of the release of new EP Autumn, which grapples with topics ranging from impermanence — ‘I know someday it’s all going to be over’, explains Fallon, in his typically soulful, mesmerising and raspy vocals, on title track ‘Autumn’ — to disconnect and the power of letting go and cutting ties with people who, whether meaning to or not, do nothing but hurt you, on the incredible ‘History Books’, also featuring possibly the greatest and most iconic singer-songwriter ever, in the form of Bruce Springsteen. Having The Gaslight Anthem be the first headliner is incredible — having them be the opening headliner, with another two equally fantastic headliners to come, is just insane (in the best of ways!)

With 60% of tickets already sold, you best move quickly if you want to come see a band that even The Boss loves.
