Live Review: Easy Life - Alexandra Palace, London 25/02/2023

The alternative ‘boy-band’ Easy Life set out on a nationwide tour to promote their latest release ‘Maybe in Another Life’, going up and down the country but ending it all with their biggest headline show to date at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London!

Up-and-comers Sad Night Dynamite were this evenings opener, a rowdy duo who pumped out a collection of trippy hip-hop and punk inspired bangers. The set was high energy from start to finish with the two encouraging sing-a-longs, screaming down the end of a megaphone and at multiple points deciding to abandon the stage and play a few songs in the middle of the mosh pits that they had helped create! A hot and sweaty start to the evening but a wonderful way to get the gigantic audience pumped up and ready for the main event.

Easy Life has a very dedicated fanbase and it was extremely obvious tonight casting our eye over the 10,000 strong crowd packed into Alexandra Palace. As the room fell into darkness and a large ‘EASY LIFE’ neon sign lit up at the back of the stage the room felt electric with screams, the band then swaggered onto stage one by one all in matching embroidered leather jackets, a quick wave to the audience before lulling into ‘MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE’ & ‘GROWING PAINS’.

The signature sound of of Easy Life is instantly recognizable, the softly spoken indie hip hop caressed the venue throughout the evening, fan favorites such as ‘Sangria’, ‘ojpl’ and ‘ocean view’ all going down a treat, whilst the track ‘skeletons’ turned the other cheek and made it feel like an entirely different gig, mosh pits opening up everywhere, crowdsurfers galore!

The London setlist felt like a perfect balance of old and new, the laid-back vibe that the band emit through their personas on stage and through their music felt magnified at such a landmark in their career as a band. Easy Life captured and held everyone's attention for the entire evening, making us feel like we were in a dream that we never wanted to wake up from!

Nearing the end of the set the excitement didn’t die off as the band brought out Gus Dapperton to sing their collab ‘ANTIFREEZE’ before smashing into a true fan favorite ‘nightmares’ which you could barely hear over the crowd singing back every word.

A quick interlude to give the band a breather before they strutted back out on stage for an encore including ‘DEAR MISS HOLLOWAY’ & ‘FORTUNE COOKIE’, an incredible ending to the night!

An iconic event from the easy-listening 5 piece, any doubters in the crowd most likely changed their minds almost immediately; only big things can come out of this band in the future and we can’t wait to hear it!
