Little Image - 'Ballet'
Dallas alt-pop trio Little Image unveiled new single, ‘BALLET’ the latest offering from their upcoming debut album ‘SELF TITLED’ which will be releasing May 12th.
Little Image, morphed from a group of perpetually online suburban teens who were obsessed with underground indie rock and had no idea what they wanted to be into the tight-knit outfit you see today. Little Image consists of vocalist and guitarist Jackson Simmons, bassist and synth player Brandon Walters and drummer Troy Bruner.
The group are currently on a U.S. tour opening for Colony House through April. Little Image blew audiences away opening for Panic! At The Disco and playing a headline show at Los Angeles’ the Moroccan Lounge last year. When live they are stadium-ready, brining a fully realized experience, sonically and visually to any room that they play no matter the size.
With the new single with the band’s signature atmospheric sound and catchy chorus with all the makings of an alternative rock smash, ‘BALLET’ is a reflective portrayal of one’s inner struggle with body image. Little Image reflected that the new single ‘Ballet’ is a “raw look into our own and our culture’s struggle with self-image. We are constantly comparing and asking ourselves why we look the way we do, looking in the mirror and finding a deep longing to see something that is different from who we are. We hope this song can encourage people to love themselves beyond the ideology we have instilled in our brains that we must look a certain way and remember nobody else can be you other than you.”
The upcoming debut album ‘SELF TITLED’ will be produced in partnership with Chad Copelin who engineered music for 5 Seconds of Summer, and Sufjan Stevens. The upcoming album will include previously released fan-favourite tracks, ‘LUNGS BURN’, ‘WORTH IT’, ‘EGO’, ‘BLUE’, and the punchy declaration of love, ‘OUT OF MY MIND’.
SELF TITLED does not lack in memorable moments: From the funky hip-hop groove of “BALLET” to the electro-dance break in “WORTH IT” to the acoustic softness of “MAKEUP,” the album sonically delivers the goods. The M83-esque indie-dance number “LUNGS BURN” is a diamond in a sea of gems; the double-meaning lyrics of “OUT OF MY MIND,” a love song which vocalist Simmons describes as being about both their individual partners as well as their relationship as a band, has the potential to speak to millions of people. Then there is the more guitar-oriented vibe of “BLUE,” a song spawned out of the past few years of political strife in America, described by drummer Bruner as “a very special song to all of us.”
‘SELF TITLED’ is more than just a collection of 13 songs, it is an album that is deliberately sequenced to tell a story of self-doubt, self-reflection and then self-love. While the upcoming album is a document of the trio’s lives, Little Image hopes to use it to connect with people across the globe.
