Belle Mt - 'Lost Boys'

Belle Mt. continue their strong run of form with latest single ‘Lost Boys’: a track that combines a variety of emotions to create a beautiful musical outpour.

The three-piece outfit waste no time in throwing listeners into the track. The opening guitar riff is suspenseful and immediately has listeners gripped. There’s little time to become fixated on the brilliant guitar, though, as frontman Matt takes the reins with what becomes an extremely powerful vocal performance.

The verses perfectly build the track up to the point of complete outburst. The group work together to keep the track tight, with careful drum patterns really proving to be the glue of the number. This demonstration of the band’s capability of plating in such unison really makes for a suspenseful build up to the chorus.

The imagery within the words as the song progresses is simply incredible. The frontman delivers a beautiful chorus, culminating in the line “We could be more.” A powerful line. The band have described the track to be “an anthem and a rallying cry initially written for [their hometown of] Sunderland, UK. The scars of the 1980s still linger […]” These historical events, and the confusing range of emotions can really be felt in the single, not only in the words, but within the instrumentation of the track. There is a real reflection of the feelings of the people of Sunderland and much of the north-east of the UK. We, as listeners, receive the slow verses, as well as the defiant and proud choruses, perfectly resembling the feelings of much of their hometown.

The group have put out the brilliant and moving new single ahead of their debut album ‘Mean World Syndrome’, which promises to be a record of undeniable quality, if ‘Lost Boys’ is anything to go by.

Fans can most certainly look forward to the release of the record later this year. It’s no doubt that the latest single will resonate with so many and be appreciated by even more. Belle Mt. have a track they can really be proud of in ‘Lost Boys’, and fans have a track that they can really enjoy!
