Inspired #416 - Amen Sioux

Amen Sioux has just released his highly intoxicating new single ‘Drunk In Love’.

Quietly romantic and saturated with a heady and alluring chemistry, ‘Drunk in Love’ softly tells the tale of ecstasy and inhibition. Sultry, inviting and reminiscent, it casts the listener back into pages of past lovers. Entangled in the excitement, the lust and the intense emotion, ’Drunk in Love’ reveals the addictive nature of love and how it can often feel like a withdrawal upon its ending. The question Amen quietly suggests is: do you continue to chase the high or do you face letting go, sharing, “Sometimes the best love displays restraint, rather than fire.”

He took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind his music.

Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
The Beatles got me hooked on music. Specifically Across the Universe made me a musician. My uncle played an important role and made me take it seriously. He used to play The Smashing Pumpkins (I love them) for me every time I paid a visit to my grandparents. I knew I wanted to play in a band at those moments.

Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
I love watching movies, I could cite at least 50 movies that changed my life, but ‘1900’ by Bernardo Bertolucci is something else, it made me change my perspectives.

What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
I truly believe every single city can be inspiring, even the biggest and worst shithole.

Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
I am the most inspiring person to me. I have been the one and only person present in my life every second of every single day I have been on this earth. All my successes have been built on my failures and I think of them as a gift.

What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
I was inspired by the indelible marks that romance left on my heart and the emotions that flew from heartbreak.

How would you like to inspire people?
By writing songs that tell little stories about my life that other people can relate to. Stories that let people think and reflect on their own lives and hopefully inspire them.
