Oslo Twins - 'I See Mountains'
The Bristol-formed, London-based group Oslo Twins give a sneak peek at what’s to come with the release of their latest single, I See Mountains.
On Wednesday 12th of November, Oslo Twins coincided announcing their new EP, Tresor, which is coming out in February 2025 with the release of their latest single I See Mountains, a dream-pop, trip-hop track. With a strong blend of synths and electronic drums combined with Claudia Vulliamy’s delicate vocals, the group’s latest single is an ethereal listening experience.
The influence of Massive Attack, the leaders of the hypnotic, dreamy trip-hop genre, is evident from the first listen. I See Mountains is an easy comparison to their well-known Teardrop, which is never going to be a bad thing. However, Oslo Twins have created a track that is hard to allocate to one single genre. I See Mountains is a unique blend of earthy indie-folk and electro beats. They have created something entirely their own whilst also ensuring it is something that will be well remembered.
The song sets a scene of ascension: " Just above the estuary, that is where you’ll find me. " Vocalist and lead songwriter Claudia says of the lyrical inspiration, "I wanted to create an image of the sublime, a kind of journey upwards into the sky.” They achieved ascending to another level with the addition of the violin and piano behind the electronic beat, adding an extra level of depth to the already haunting track.
With their new EP Tresor, set for release on the 14th of February 2025 and a headline show at The Waiting Room in London on November 22nd, I See Mountains offers listeners a glimpse into what’s in store for Oslo Twins. The inclusion of synths and electronic drums has always been a part of Oslo Twins sound, but the group have put them in the spotlight with their previous release Sally, and now with their newest release, I See Mountains. Expanding deeper into electronic territory, I See Mountains sees Oslo Twins further cementing themselves as ones to watch.
Off the back of the release of their EP, Tresor, in February, Oslo Twins also have their headline tour coming up with dates in Bristol, Southampton, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Edinburgh and Glasgow for later in 2025. If I See Mountains is anything to go by, Tresor will be an EP to look out for.
