Blusher - 'Somebody New'

Melbourne’s rising pop trio, Blusher, has unveiled their latest single, ‘Somebody New’, a dancefloor-ready anthem about love, friendship, and the messy cycles in between.

Known for their unique blend of introspective lyrics and rave-pop energy, Blusher’s Jade, Lauren, and Miranda have built a reputation for making music that’s as emotionally raw as it is irresistibly catchy. This final release of 2024 marks the culmination of a breakout year for the band, who kicked things off with their Charli XCX-inspired track ‘Rave Angel’ and have since introduced fans to a wider range of sounds through tracks like ‘Overglow’ and ‘Accelerator.’

‘Somebody New’ explores the emotional rollercoaster of relationships, offering a mantra for anyone stuck in the cycle of breaking up, rebounding, and diving back into romance. Blusher describes it as “a fun, flirty mantra” dedicated to the friends who are there for every phase of the journey. “Late nights out with your new crush, first kisses in the club followed by tears on the dancefloor – whatever stage of the cycle you’re in, we wrote this song to be the soundtrack,” the band explains. The song channels the trio’s signature sound, balancing dreamy synths and thick bass lines, which has drawn comparisons to Robyn’s seminal track Dancing On My Own’ and the era of early 2000s pop icons.

Since launching at BIGSOUND in 2022, Blusher has quickly carved a place in Australia’s music scene. The band’s vibrant approach, where each member takes turns singing and swapping instruments during live shows, has earned them praise from critics and fans alike. The band’s openness and unfiltered lyricism land them somewhere between late-night introspection and the euphoria of a crowded dance floor.

After supporting acts like Tove Lo, Aurora, and Dadi Freyr across the UK, North America, and Australia, Blusher will finally perform their long-awaited debut Australian headline shows this December, with stops at The Lansdowne in Sydney and Northcote Social Club in Melbourne. Their journey reflects a perfect mix of 2am solitude and late-night liberation, capturing the full scope of the human experience in each beat.

With ‘Somebody New’ out now, Blusher is setting the stage for a new era of pop music, one that feels refreshingly genuine and relentlessly fun. Fans won’t want to miss this chance to see the band live as they define the future of Australian pop.
