Rapidly-Rising outfit DEADLETTER incite excitement ahead of their debut album, with the captivating new single: ‘Mother’.
The group have soared in popularity in recent years. Central to their swift rise to the forefront of the punk scene has been their relentless live performances, undying charisma and ability to release gripping music that people connect with.
‘Mother’ becomes the next single in an ever-growing list of stunning tracks released by the band, and it may be a flavour of what’s to come when DEADLETTER set free their debut album.
Jangly, almost eerie sounding guitars kick the track off, creating a real angsty sound that captures listeners from the off. No time is wasted, with lead vocalist Zac Lawrence taking the helm early on. His tone is commanding, and it feels as though he holds back inner aggression during the verses which are brimming with expert instrumentation executed by the group. All members combine to create unsettling verses that burst into sheer chaos as the chorus ensues.
Lawrence’s tone turns on its head, becoming outwardly passionate, and the rest of the group mirror this explosive anger.
Hugely notable within the track is the brilliant saxophone, given to us by Poppy Richler. Her playing is the purity amongst the chaos of the choruses.
The track is the ultimate expression of emotion, brimming with raw feelings.
The group’s lead vocalist has spoken on the track, stating that: “’Mother’ takes direct inspiration from the Bong Joon Ho film of the same name, but also hones in on the wider idea of motherhood, and the lengths that a mother will go to for their child.”
With the release of DEADLETTER’s debut album: ‘Hysterical Strength’ scheduled for September, fans of the band will be even more excited as they embrace the latest single.
DEADLETTER may well be gearing up to release one of he albums of the year. If ‘Mother’ is anything to go by, big things lay ahead.
