DJO - 'Delete Ya'
Djo has released the latest teaser from his upcoming third record, in the form of the relatable and heart-breaking ‘Delete Ya’.
Joe Keery is the latest actor to turn to the art of penning songs, and he isn’t the first from the Stranger Things alumni. Lead actor Finn Wolfhard found himself as lead vocalist of Calpurnia (now dissolved to The Aubrey’s), and Maya Hawke defied the nepo-baby allegations when she turned away from teen rom-coms and Wes Anderson’s post-modern backdrops to pursue a music. Opting for the moniker Djo (an abstract spelling of Joe), Keery’s career thus far has seen him traverse the deepest corners of synth-pop, emerging as one of the most exciting acts of 2025.
Despite being released three years ago, Keery’s hit-cut ‘End of Beginning’ catapulted him to 2024 TikTok fame and culminated in BRIT Award nomination for International Song of The Year (alongside the likes of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Noah Kahan and Billie Eilish).
Holding its place as the second track to be released from ‘The Crux’, following on from the romantic ode to simple pleasures ‘Basic Being Basic’, ‘Delete Ya’ meddles in matters of the heart, as post-relationship reflections beg for amnesia. While the concept of mind-erasing isn’t a new one (Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, and Blossoms’ ‘I Can’t Stand It’), DJO’s take on the narrative is a three-and-a-half-minute bedroom pop introspection featuring sonorous vocals and insistent percussion. Admitting he’s “trying to let it go”, this synth pop exploration is reminiscent of the early experimental MGMT, and akin to the vocal delivery of Julian Casablancas.
Having already been featured as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record In The World. ‘Delete Ya’ is garnering ample excitement for his upcoming project, “The Crux” due out April 4th.
