In Conversation With #290 - Baby Said
Hailing from Portsmouth, Baby Said have just released their debut album 'BS'.
Baby Said are made up of Italian/Punjabi sisters Veronica (20) and Jess (18) Pal whose musical journey began at a very young age. Releasing tracks one single at a time, debut album BS is out now and it’s about finding the power to speak up and inspiring others to do the same.
They took a moment to talk to us about how the album came together.
Hey there Baby Said, how are you? So your album is out now – how does it feel to have it out there?
We are amazing, thank you. Having our album out feels incredible and so surreal. To finally be able to share ‘BS’ with the world and our brilliant fans is very humbling,
It is called ‘BS’ – what is the meaning behind that?
It stands for ‘Baby Said’ as well as ‘Bull Sh*t’
Where was it recorded? Any behind the scenes stories you are willing to share with us?
It was recorded with Patch Boshell and Steven Battelle in two studios. The first studio was Puzzle Factory in London and the second was at Patch’s studio, also in London.
It’s never a session if we don’t have a box of chicken each.
What are the key influences behind the album?
Måneskin, Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys and The Warning
If the album could be a soundtrack to any film – which one and why?
Suicide Squad
Do you have a favourite lyric on the album? If so, which one and why?
“When you’re wanting, I’ll give my all” taken from our track ‘Take Everything’ And “Your ego was never mine to feed”. We feel that these lyrics don’t need explaining.
Now the album is out there – what next for you?
Lots if gigs and festivals in 2025 which include SXSW in America, Jame and The Cold Gun tour, a very big festival in June that we can’t tell you about and recording the difficult second album!
