Introducing #289 - Blousey

Let us introduce you to rowdy London newcomers Blousey - who have just released their new single 'Chances'.

Tying together the crunching grooves of vintage 60s garage-rock, the black-cad sultriness of Nick Cave with an unbound sense of uproarious hedonism - New single 'Chances' is all big choruses, violins and saxophones, bundled up in an insatiable lust for late night adventure...

They took a moment to talk to us about their music.

Hey there Blousey - how are you? So your track ‘Chances’ is out now - can you tell us what it is about?
JJ -We’re doing just fine and dandy thank you very much!
Luca - Yes! Chances is finally out in the world and it’s essentially a song about friendship - how often the most meaningful relationships can be spawned from seemingly insignificant chance encounters.

Where are you from and what are your favourite things to do there?
Luca- I’m from Hertfordshire, as is Charlie. The rest of the band are all from different parts of this fair land : Felix hails from Catford, Tallis from Hastings and Rosie from Kent.
JJ - I’m from London and we’re all based here now. We spend most of our time writing, playing, recording or working menial jobs to fund said activities. There truly are endless opportunities for exultant joy in this polluted capital we call home.

What are the key influences when it comes to your music?
JJ- Our chief musical influences within the band are each other - we try to keep our ears pointed forwards.
Luca - Looking back our inspirations range from Roxy Music to the Velvet Underground. We love anything loud and over the top from the 70s but we’re also influenced by bands around us in London such as Wish and Pedestrian Band.
JJ - Casting our eyes across the pond we also unanimously think Geese are phenomenal.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
Luca - Our sound is a “more is more” approach to rock music that flips between being dirty and aggressive to soft and sweet, somewhat sonically indecisive.
JJ- Sometimes we’re a grimey garage rock band, other times we’re a theatrical psychedelic art rock band - depends on the song, depends on the night and depends on which members showed up that evening.

Now the track is out there - what next for you?
Luca - Now the track is out we’re planning on gigging as much as physically possible.
JJ - We’re going to be accumulating all the lukewarm rider beer we can get our hands on and hope to sell it to fund our next big endeavour - be that an album or custom embroidered sequin jumpsuits.
