TERROR - ’Still Suffer’

Long-time Hardcore superstars TERROR continue their infinitely influential career with the title track of their all-new album ’Still Suffer’.

After 24 years at the top of the pile of one of the world’s most vicious and ever-changing genres, TERROR have returned to make their 10th studio album,’ Still Suffer’. This album isn't necessarily an evolution of their sound, but a more concise, brutal collection of tracks that prove not only that they are an iconic band but also an institution of this genre with no plans to step back. This all-gas, no-brakes mentality is felt very heavily throughout this track, from the needle drop, you can almost hear the blisters growing on the drummer Nicholas Jett's hands as he beats the kit as if it owes him money. If you know TERROR, you know that the blinding riffs and tenacious rhythm section are commonplace, and this track is no different. ’Still Suffer’ contains some of their best instrumental pieces to date, with a truly brutal viscosity between the high-pitched harmonics and A-string power chords and the sardonic, almost villainous chugs of the bass and rhythm section. this truly beautiful blend of violence carries throughout the track and really doesn't let up with the verses carrying a fast paced composition from the starting pistol and the choruses only continuing to throw gallons of fuel on the fire and kick it up even more, and if you thought that was heavy you might want to step out of the way of the pit when the break down hits. The relentless halftime pounding of the kit couples with those age-old menacing chugs to create a fusion of sound that will likely end up in someone’s top 10 songs to get spin kicked to, and boy does it deserve to be there.

This track is another drop in the bucket in an extremely long lineage of tracks that have amazed generations of hardcore fans and will very clearly continue to do so. A lot of bands that have been around this long usually will eventually divert down two paths, attempted innovation that doesn't quite pan out the way you had hoped or the latter, making the same tracks over and over again and trying ride the bus till the wheels fall off and then every so often bands come along that simply will not quit, TERROR is one of those bands. Their creative prowess has never ceased; they’ve always pushed forward, and each release is something I find myself revisiting time after time, as they truly don’t have an album you can point to and say, yeah, that fell flat, and it is this persistence to create that leaves me consistently finding myself in awe of their music. They embody the essence of hardcore itself. TERROR aren’t a point in time or a specific album; they are a longstanding pillar of the genre that people of all ages can gather in a room and 2-step to while they beat the piss out of each other in sheer elation.

Keep an eye on these guys if you're new or revisiting them from yesteryear, and if you have stuck around, then you know what's coming as their new album ’Still Suffer’ will be out April 24th via Flatspot Records and will most certainly be a true contender for album of the year if this song is anything to go by. Aswell as the album, they also have a stellar list of dates for their North American tour starting this month, so hardcore fans and newcomers alike, get those calendars out and get ready for the ride of your life.
