Magnolia Park - 'Dangerous'

Magnolia Park release their new single “DANGEROUS”, the final preview of their deluxe album “NIGHTS AFTER VAMP”.

Magnolia Park have built themselves a reputation as one of the most innovative groups in the modern alternative scene, with songs such as “10 for 10” and “I should’ve listened to my friends” being some of my personal favourite tracks of theirs so far. Their newest single “DANGEROUS” stands out immediately for its atmosphere, heavy guitar layers and modern rock production. The track manages to successfully blend Magnolia Park’s signature pop-punk and metalcore energy with an R&B-tinged vocal performance.

Lyrically, the track leans into a more sensual direction with themes of temptation and attraction being explored throughout the song. The opening lines “Said she want it dirty when we play, said she want my money and my fame” immediately introduce a dynamic rooted in indulgence and obsession. There is an awareness that the connection described may be shallow or transactional, yet the narrator remains hooked regardless. The lyric “She eating out my soul for the fun of it, in her mausoleum yeh she run that shit” combines sensual imagery with gothic language, linking back to the band’s larger concept narrative. Furthermore, the phrasing of the line “all she want from me is a body piece, a bit of fantasy” implies the narrator is desired purely for his body, and without any sort of want for emotional intimacy. “A bit of fantasy” suggests that the interaction exists in a realm of escapism rather than reality.

Magnolia Park’s production approach on “DANGEROUS” features thickly layered guitars that give the song a pulsing weight that resembles that of nu-metal. Subtle electronic elements sit beneath the mix, further adding weight to the track and an almost industrial feel that reinforces the band’s dystopian universe. The vocals are polished and clear, with a laid-back flow that emphasises the song’s seductive energy. This track features one of my personal favourite vocal performances from Joshua Roberts so far.

With “NIGHTS AFTER VAMP”, Magnolia Park have created a high-energy soundtrack for their fictional world across 17 tracks. Drawing inspiration from anime, horror and fantasy, the band weaves together influences from rock, punk, metalcore and hip-hop into a rich listening experience. The band is notably inspired by Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon, and this is sonically evident in “DANGEROUS”.

Since VAMP’s release, the band has been on the road, tackling an international headlining tour. Some of their upcoming performances this year include a set at Download Fest, Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park. With 2 million weekly listeners and their distinctive genre-blending sound, Magnolia Park is set to keep building momentum on their rise towards widespread international recognition.
