Single Review: Motherhood - 'Save Me'

Liverpool indie outfit Motherhood bring the sunshine back to summer with brand new single, 'Save Me'.

As far as instant indie pop hooks go, 'Save Me' shows Motherhood are pretty clued up on delivering the exact formula for success, drawing their listener in straight from the one second mark. Weightless, fluid rhythms are led by shimmering retro guitar arrangements, quirky calypso-esque percussion and tropical synth, giving the song a familiar feel amidst its genre contemporaries, but executed in such a way that Motherhood widely miss feeling contrived.

Despite exploring the nostalgic (and slightly worrying) theme of contemplating the idea that your first love might be the only person who really knows you, 'Save Me' is  cheerful, energetic and airy tune, allowing its listener to dance away their blues and come out of it feeling a whole lot lighter.
