Single Review: RINNGS - 'Oceans'

London duo RINNGS return with their lush, atmospheric new single and cinematic music video, 'Oceans'.

RINNGS caught our attention a few months back with their unnerving yet equally alluring debut single ‘Cutting The Cloth’. Their love for modern pop and intriguing songwriting extends from their extensive musical backgrounds. Karl Zine, a jazz-musician and Nai Jannson, a choral composer and conductor, both travelled down paths of composition and performance early into their music careers.

Returning with new single and video, ‘Oceans’, the pair ensures to not taint their appetite for intricate alternative-pop with bland pop production and structures. Introducing diluted, reverb-coated synths that ride waves around incessant dancehall grooves, the song paces from spacious and tense verses into choruses sparked with much grandeur – it’s a muster of pop perfection with tons of guts.

Equally as intensifying and thrilling, the cinematic video embraces much of this melodrama of the song. With vivid visuals, it delves into the story of two young lovers that are pushed towards and pulled away from one another through the night.
