Single Review: Low Chimes - 'Sulphur Silk'

Releasing a batch of singles, Stroud’s finest export Low Chimes have come to our attention with their magnificent single, ‘Sulphur Silk’. ‘The single builds like an epic journey with its diverse prog-like arrangements, comprised of dark guitar lines, tempo changes, synthetic pad swells. ‘Sulphur Silk’ adopts lavish instrumental arrangements, flourishing the bands’ natural love for rural landscapes. With poignant lyrical narratives of new beginnings and letting go of the past, Marianne (vocals) serves lyrics as metaphors for darker themes of solitude, anxiety and escapism.

On the subject of the song, Marianna from Low Chimes explain "Seeking respite at the end of a relationship I’d gone away to Sweden, but everything I saw and heard seemed to reflect the way I was feeling back at me. ’Sulphur Silk’ recalls a time when I was floating in a Swedish lake; I closed my eyes and allowed my ears to sink below the surface, and with my senses dulled it felt like the lake was cleansing me and cloaking me from the real world”. ‘Sulpher Silk’ is one of the many exciting works from the upcoming debut album, ‘Illumine’.
