Yardij - 'Opinions'
Florida Indie Alternative Rock outfit Yardij free themselves from unwanted ‘Opinions’ on their latest single, taken from their 4-track EP, ‘Face Value’.
What is great about Yardij is that every member of the band plays an integral role, exactly as a band should operate! ‘Opinions’ shows off a tight sound from a band who function like a well-oiled machine. But you can hear each individual's contribution to ‘Opinions’ clearly. The track is composed in a way that it makes you excited when each new instrument comes in or fades out of the track. Yardij pays a lot of attention to creating fun dynamics and playing to time signatures that tease their listener, making it a joy to come along for the ride with them.
Frontwoman Deja Elyze’s vocal is a powerful force in itself, combining an alternative grit with a lot of warmth and soul as Elyze guides the vocal melody to impassioned, soaring heights. The tone of the piece is relatively light despite the soul searching and rawer aspects to the lyrics. Jordan Solomon’s keeps the track grounded with his weighty rolling drum rhythms while guitarist Anthony Vilarino and Alex Athanasa on bass offer affecting melodic nuances, a little bit of brooding and some great riffs, respectively.
’Opinions’ is taken from the band’s latest EP ‘Face Value’ and it would be a disservice not to nod towards the EP in its entirety which is a very admirable mix of raw energy, passion, tenderness, and real heart. On the EP the band says, “The music talks of past, present, and future - not just in love but in personal growth as well and trusting one’s intuition. No one knows your journey better than you do”.
I really like what Yardij are doing right now.
