The 1975 - ‘Give Yourself A Try’

The 1975 released the first single ‘Give Yourself A Try’ last Friday from their upcoming third studio album ‘A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships’. 

‘Give Yourself A Try’ has that classic The 1975 sound; a cheerful and uplifting vibe. The content of the song targets coming to terms with growing older and reflecting on life but not giving up on yourself and focus on enjoying it. The song feels short, but I think that’s purely because you kind of get lost in the vibe of the song and the lyrics, finding yourself singing along and before you know it the song is over, and you must press play again…Not a bad situation to be in to be honest! 

The track sounds a little heavy on the vocal effects, but this is obviously more of a stylistic choice than to cover up any bad vocal takes! I feel that this track is one of a grower and may take a few listens for people who are not yet fans to really appreciate the effort that has gone in to writing ‘Give Yourself A Try’. I look forward to hearing the rest of the album!
