Sam Fender - 'Dead Boys'
Named as one of BBC’s Sound of 2018, alongside Sigrid and Khalid, Sam Fender has been steadily making a name for himself, this past year. The singer-songwriter is well known for his ability to write catchy indie songs that delve into the subject of sexual harassment and the future of humanity, whilst also touching on political awareness.
Dead Boys is the first release from Sam Fender’s upcoming debut EP. The song opens as a moody indie track with a simple guitar instrumental and steadily builds into a colourful intensity that sees a varied repetition of the haunting chorus; “Nobody ever could explain all the dead boys in our home town.” Male suicide is a subject that is frequently arising in the music industry, at the moment and Sam Fender has shown his talents as a songwriter by tackling such a poignant topic, all the while maintaining his signature, catchy, sound.
