The latest offering from Laville will draw you right in with it’s lushness.

If you’ve not yet heard of North Londoner Laville, you’ll want to familiarise yourself soon because his music will be the background to your life for the next few months. There’s no way one can resist the charm of his lush melodies and smooth vocals, and it’s the perfect piece of music to kick your feet back to, no matter what you listen to normally. Laville is the first solo male artist to be signed to Acid Jazz Records since Jamiroquai, and listening to ‘Thirty One’, it’s no surprise that he had managed to find a home with such a distinguished record company.

‘Thirty One’ immediately sets the mood with a flourish of flutes, sparkling chimes and a groovy bass line. There’s a mellow tone to the track, created by all of the different instruments and textures seamlessly weaving together and topped off by Laville’s velvety vocals. Although a relatively new artist, a musical maturity dazzles through his honest songwriting. It’s an easygoing track in the sense that the accompaniment rolls on mellifluously, but lyrically the themes are a bit heavier and reflects upon the arbitrary restrictions set about what can and can’t be done at certain ages.

Speaking about the track, Laville explains, “Thirty One is about love that you know you are ready for, and it is also about knowing who you are and being ok with you. I think its important to understand yourself and your age and to not let that hold you back from doing what you need to be fulfilled.”
