Exciting Austrian Indie rock outfit At Pavillon talk us through the ideas behind their visuals for ‘Believers’, capturing a spiritual journey of powerful self discovery.
’Believers’ is an explosive indie rock track that channels 80s new wave influences reminiscent of Tears For Fears, while also standing firmly in the present day, appealing to fans of post-punk revival bands such as Interpol and Bloc Party. ‘Believers’ is taken from the band’s new album, ‘Believe Us’ which is out now via Las Vegas Records.

At Pavillon Explains:

Where was the video for 'Believers' filmed?
In a Viennese industrial-like location called "Kunstbogen". It's basically an artistic place right under a metro-line. So whenever the metro is crossing you feel a little earthquake.

How does the video connect with the song?
The video toys with the song's topic of believing by staging a live-show as an almost religious ceremony in a way where you go deep into your own mind. Therefore, it's a worthy representative of our debut-album ‘Believe Us’.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you could share with us?
When we were shooting the band-performance scenes Paul, our drummer, took it somehow too seriously and was hitting the drums so hard that his hands started bleeding. Good thing: we saved some cash on fake blood! Bad thing: he couldn't play for two weeks...

Could you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
Our director Patricia Narbon took lots of inspiration from late grunge and emo videos, in order to create an intimate atmosphere. Together we were as well researching for religious symbolism and combining this with a proper live setup.

What do you hope people take away from watching the video?
People should get into contact with their inner-selves, figuring out who they really are and where they wanna go.
