Trevor Myall - 'All The Things'

‘All The Things’ is a soulful and sophisticated cut of passionate, uplifting, indie pop taken from
Trevor Myall’s impending debut EP, ‘One Way Ticket’ produced with The Swoons and due for release January 25th.

Opening with sparse piano and Trevor Myall’s evocative, soulful vocal, ‘All The Things’ is a moving lyric-led song that gradually builds from mellow textures to a full and aesthetically pleasing sound. Ultimately, the track champions love and sonically bleeds a tenderness and intimacy matching that unabashed feeling of wanting to surrender every part of you to a lover that Myall depicts in his lyrics.

Myall takes the love narrative into beautiful new territory with clever imagery in his lyrics such as, “You paint my skin with gentle hands, until I feel refurbished. My brokenness, your greatest muse as I watch you cure the darkness”. ’All The Things’ seems to capture that moment of realisation when you kind of feel weightless and you’ve fully placed your trust in another human being who helps you heal and grow, and lifts you up.

Sonically, as mentioned, the track gives enough space for Myall’s storytelling to be at the heart of the song. But ‘All The Things’ grows, shivers and shudders from its gentle beginnings into a momentous, magical, crescendo with thanks to the The Swoons who are said to have used almost every instrument in their garage home studio to bring the song to life “whilst retaining its organic core” and I couldn’t have said it better myself. If the track’s already released from the EP are anything to go by, this Friday will see a debut record released who is very much dressed to impress.
