Introducing #0094 - 'Nature TV'
Let us introduce you to Heist Or Hit’s newest signing - Brighton’s Nature TV, who have just released new single ‘She Wants To See You Cry’. The track provides us with a taster of the band’s forthcoming EP, which will be out late November. We had a chat with the band about the track and their plans for touring with Trudy & the Romance.
Your new track ‘She Wants To See You Cry’ is out now, can you tell us what the track is about?
Relationships, paranoia and the combination of the two. We tried to off-set the bitter-sweet theme of these lyrics with a light and dreamy instrumental. It seems, at least with our upcoming release, the happier the track sounds the more depressing the lyrics end up being.
Where was the track recorded? Are there any behind the scenes stories you are happy to share from the process?
We gave the track (and the rest of the EP) the best start possible by recording all the percussion at an incredible drum specific studio called Rubix in London. After that we spent a month recording the guitars, bass, keys and vocals in our respective flats and then Solo spent some loooong nights mixing and adding some ‘production-sparkle’ in his home studio. For now it’s a running theme for the first track of our EP release to include an intro that feels rough and ‘live’ before opening up into the more luscious sound on the rest of the song.
How did the band come into existence?
Guy and Josh have playing and writing music together since their university days (which only lasted around a month). After struggling with just using a drum machine in their early live performances they met Zal at a couple of their shows, and found him found to be equally reliable! Solo met Guy while they were working together & completed the picture, joining the band as lead guitarist and producer.
You have signed to Heist Or Hit, home to the likes of Pizzagirl and Honey Moon, how did that partnership come about? And how does it feel to be working with them?
We’re absolutely over the moon to be signed to Heist or Hit & we’re extremely grateful to our manager Bernie for her efforts and guidance that led to being put in touch with them. We’re really optimistic about the future and are already working towards some really exciting things for next year (so follow us online to keep an eye on them).
Based in Brighton, where do you like to go for live music? The city has such a strong scene building there at the moment, is there any bands or artists you think we should be checking out?
We’ve really enjoyed performing and going to gigs at The Green Door Store (who have been giving us a lot of support this year), and we’re really excited to be playing at the Hope and Ruin next week supporting Trudy & The Romance!
Three bands we’d say to look out for are Yakul, Hanya and Nancy!
Now the single is out there, what next?
More singles, an EP and a lot more music in general! Guy has recently been ‘led by the long reign’ romantically so we’ve got even more songs currently being written!“
