EP Review: Casey Lowry - 'Nervous'

London-based Casey Lowry has released a four-track EP, ‘Nervous’, in which it seems he is feeling a range of emotions from anxious to angry.

Casey released his debut EP, ‘Beach Blue’ last year. It had a very different, much more broody vibe to ‘Nervous’.

The tracks on ‘Nervous’ are all brand new and Casey has worked with producer Jum Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele). What results is a fusion of catchy pop with all the raw energy of grassroots indie. In other words, these are songs which will be playing in your mind for a long time to come.

If you like Sea Girls, Marsicans and Larkins, you’ll like what you hear when it comes to Casey.

The title track from the EP ‘Nervous’ is a showstopper of a tune. “I’m a little bit nervous…,” he belts out. Meanwhile, the second track ‘Feeling No Feeling’ starts off gentler but kicks into a catchy chorus and is a summer-y tune. ‘Ferrari’ is just as infectious with its tropical beats, as Casey is feeling vengeful (“I just want to scratch your Ferrari”).

‘Nervous’ is a refreshing EP from a relatively new artist. It makes a statement and shows a lot of promise. These are songs with feeling but also ones you can dance to.

Casey is currently touring with Conor Maynard.
