Saytr Play – ‘Honest Man’
It’s a great tune. Honest, man.
‘Honest Man’ is the latest offering from Manchester’s Saytr Play – a fun, catchy and arena singalong rocker that is introspective yet danceable. It gives a nod to the 00s indie and garage rock revival yet is fresh and modern like Sundara Karma or Circa Waves. Singer Fred Farrell reveals that ‘Honest Man’ is about “The idea of being happy in a bad relationship for the sake of easy love [and] fear of being alone.” And let’s face it, we’ve all been there.
But Satyr Play don’t play with self-pity. The song is laced with lovely melodies to captivate anyone listening. But it opens with a crash, bang and wallop and there are exciting Strokes-esque guitar leads to get your hips moving. With a song like this, Satyr Play could easily pick up from where the Vaccines’ first album left off.
