Dua Lipa - 'Don't Start'
The pop artist has released dance-orientated track ‘Don’t Start’, it signifies the beginning of a new era for Dua Lipa. The funky breakup anthem is from her upcoming second studio album.
The song is about how Dua is “so moved on, it’s scary”. She advises her ex to stay away from her (“Walk away, you know how/ Don’t start caring about me now”).
“I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another” explains Dua - “Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with”.
The British singer songwriter has previously had success with singles ‘New Rules’ and ‘One Kiss’ with Calvin Harris, which reached Number 1 in the UK. She also won two Brit Awards, for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act in 2018. She also received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording for ‘Electricity’ with Silk City.
‘Don’t Start Now’ has all the makings of a hit. Will it be as successful as ‘New Rules’? It could well be.
