Pearl Jam announce British Summertime appearance for 2020
When you think of summer in London, yes of course your mind instantly thinks of praying for more than 4 consecutive days of temperatures above 22°c, but there’s also the factor of grabbing tinnies from your local off-license after work and finding the closest park to sit in and soak in as much cloud-masked vitamin D as possible; walking around in shorts and flip-flops even if it isn’t warm outside; and wearing sunglasses until about 10pm at night.
These terribly British occurrences happen all throughout the months of May-September, and in attempts to avoid freaking out your neighbours or passers-by on the street, it helps having an occasion to exhibit all of these behaviours at. That’s where American Express Presents BST Hyde Park comes in handy. The infamous festival has hosted the likes of Black Sabbath, The Cure, Kylie Minogue, and Florence & The Machine. Consistently boasting a line-up that is sure to cover a plethora of genres, British Summertime is always one of the show-stopping events of the year.
On 4th July, Little Mix will headline Hyde Park in what is surely one of their biggest shows to date on home soil. Their perfect blend of inclusive, sassy and anthemic pop is guaranteed to have hundreds of people bringing their sparkliest outfits and best dancing shoes to the party. Joining them and adding to the empowering female line-up will be Zara Larsson, Kesha, and Rita Ora. A week later one of the biggest pop stars on the planet will bring songs from her latest album ‘Lover’ to a similar crowd. Rather than do a standard arena tour in support of the release, Taylor Swift is opting for festivals and open-air stadiums.
In their only UK show of 2020 in celebration of their 30th anniversary, Pearl Jam – one of the original bands out of the Seattle grunge scene – stop by Hyde Park on their huge European tour which sees them visiting places like Frankfurt and Budapest since the 90s. With support coming from Pixies, White Reaper, and a whole host of names to come, it’s safe to say that 10th July is going to be a day for celebrating some iconic and influential bands that have shaped genres and influenced an immeasurable number of musicians.
