Sea Girls continue to enhance their reputation as one of 2019’s go-to bands with the release of ‘Open Up Your Head’.

Though still very much in their infancy as a band, the four-piece has a back catalogue peppered with infectious melodies and hooks. That combined with their growing reputation as a live act has earned them mass anticipation for a yet unannounced debut album, and a place on the BBC Sound of 2019 shortlist.

Debut on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, ‘Open Up Your Head’ has the infectious sound that you have come expect from Sea Girls, but shows maturity as it challenges the listener to scratch underneath the surface. There is a raw track that speaks of the importance of having someone to guide you and believe in you unconditionally.

‘Open Up Your Head’ will seamlessly slot into the band’s energetic set, with its release coinciding with their UK tour throughout the rest of February and March. The perfect warm up for what is shaping up as a busy festival season, both on these shores as well as abroad. It’s all too easy to get lost in Sea Girls’ infectious production, but this push to delve deeper is a welcome sign of maturity and adds a string to the bow one of the most exciting new bands around.
