Only Shadows - 'At the Door Knocking'
Only Shadows mark their return ahead of their forthcoming debut album with the new single ‘At The Door Knocking’.
The Midlands quartet have carved out an excellent reputation with support slots for the likes of The Amazons, and more recently their own sold out headline tour. 2019 will see them head back out on the road, with ‘At The Door Knocking’ an indication of what is expected going forward in terms of sound and lyrical content.
‘At The Door Knocking’ is the first release from their upcoming debut LP, funded by the prestigious PRS ‘Momentum’ grant. The new single takes inspiration from the process of getting the album made, as well as the pressures of maintaining artistic integrity and issues that come with that side of the music industry.
You are hit instantly with a storming riff, a turn towards a heavier sound than previous releases, before the band lay out their struggles in their most “open song yet.”
Bass player and writer Moffit explains: “It was a period when we had a decision to make, either write a debut album that we want to make and hope other people believe in it– or release one that other people wanted us to make.”
‘At The Door Knocking’ is an honest portrayal of the inner workings of the music industry and pitfalls that come with that, and is great foresight into what is expected to be one of the best debut rock albums of 2019.
‘At The Door Knocking’ is available now on major streaming platforms, Only Shadows kick off their bumper UK tour at Newcastle University on February 24th.
