Arctic Lake - 'Holding On'

Arctic Lake shares a smouldering dose of brooding sophisti-pop on new single, ‘Holding On’.

Having made a name for themselves off the back of their melancholic and atmospheric, minimalist leaning songs, Arctic Lake show off a more textured and bolder progression of sound on new single ‘Holding On’ without losing an ounce of emotion or intimacy. Emma Foster’s captivating vocal is collected and almost chilling in its matter of fact delivery, surrounded by a sophisticated blend of electronic and organic production.

While the song has some haunting qualities, the track is also very grounded. Segments of sparse piano are broken up by rhythmic down tempo trip hop kind of influences that burn with subtle cinematics, juxtaposing glacial undertones. This is a stylish pop song about heartbreak and an aching lesson about the cost of trying to hold on to people and feelings that no longer serve you.
