Sinead Harnett - 'By Myself'
It’s her first release of 2019 and if this anything to judge the upcoming full length by, Sinead Hartnett has big year ahead of her.
The North London native is already quite the veteran of the R&B music scene. Over the last seven years, Sinead has given her vocals over to numerous big names such as Wiley, Disclosure and Rudimental. She has been working on her debut album since 2015 and we are due to finally be relieved of the wait, later this year. ‘By Myself’ is the latest single to be taken from the album and was produced by Stint, who has worked with the likes of Jessie Ware, Zara Larsson and Demi Lovato.
Speaking of the single, Sinead explains that it was inspired by a relationship with its ups and downs. “When you know you’re not the most compatible for each other, but you can’t imagine your partner being anybody else. That bittersweet notion of always coming back to them even if it’s not the healthiest thing to be doing. Her sultry and smoky voice opens by setting the tone of the situation; “when did we become so predictable playing our roles?” and as the song develops you get a taste of her vocal range and sticky sweet harmonies which show her emotions of the situation that we will all know and experience at some point in our lives.
In comparison to ‘Lessons’ and ‘Unconditional’ – the previous singles that will be on the upcoming album – ‘By Myself’ is a chilled out reflection of the negatives of a relationship and further shows that there are many dimensions to Sinead’s musical capabilities.
