The Drums - '626 Bedford Avenue'

American indie pop band The Drums have released their new nostalgic pop song ‘626 Bedford Avenue’ which is the second single taken from their upcoming album ‘Brutalism’.

‘Brutalism’ is The Drums fifth album but the second as a solo project for frontman Jonny Pierce. ‘Brutalism’ is an album in which Pierce faces his demons as he battles depression making it quite possibly The Drums most honest and relatable music to date. First single of the new album ‘Body Chemistry’ showed evidence of this but its in the latest release ‘626 Bedford Avenue’ which shows the aspects of a great pop song.

‘626 Bedford Avenue’ is a song based around making yourself vulnerable in personal relationship and making yourself emotionally available to people with insecurities. This song is not only a growth and development in The Drums sound but also in their songwriting, never before have the band been this open on their songs. With the inclusion of a catchy melody and soothing ongoing harmonies The Drums have created a marvellous pop song.

This is such an intriguing route The Drums have gone down but from the evidence of their latest single ‘626 Bedford Avenue’ it really seems to be the best direction and one we can’t wait to hear more of.
