Strange Bones – ‘Vicious’

Strange Bones obliterate any sense of the word ‘compromise’ in their latest single ‘Vicious’.

‘Vicious’ is exactly what it is. It defies everything you may think you know about punk and electronic music. Opening with a pretty standard electronic beat that lulls you into a false sense of security, Bobby Bentham begins with “I’m a fucking triceratops”. If there are any clues as to what is to come, this may be the first one. However, I ignored it. At around the 45 second mark, Strange Bones explode into a screaming full throttle punk metal middle and I almost shit myself. ‘Vicious’ has been written to blow your mind and make your nose and ears bleed. The only thing close to this that I have heard before is Death Grips and maybe The Prodigy’s ‘Firestarter’ or ‘Smack My Bitch Up’. Yet even that won’t prepare you for the chaotic noise that Strange Bones have somehow managed to turn into a song. It’s genius.

‘Vicious’ is the first taste of Strange Bones’s upcoming Blitz Pt. 1 EP, and if this is anything to go by, we are in for one hell of a ride.
