The Tame and the Wild - 'Cold Is The Water'

The Tame and the Wild provide an upbeat indie folk soundscape to sorrow on new single, ‘Cold Is The Water’.

Citing influences from Angus and Julia Stone, Daughter, Feist and The Cure, The Tame and the Wild show off a really nice blend of organic influences and subtle electronic nuances through ‘Cold Is The Water’. The duo have a great ear for dynamics and while light and cheerful in all the right places, ‘Cold Is The Water’ also has a dramatic flare to it that compliments the sorrow and turmoil in the track’s lyrical theme.

There’s a raw honesty to lead singer Seja’s vocal that feels melancholic yet pure as the duo use natural, elemental imagery to achingly highlight pain, “my heart cracks open and the ocean pours out… “ and “Cold is the water, breaking through my bones, my flesh, my spine my soul”, before changing to equally volatile temperatures in the repeated mantra, “we are catching fire”. Like the band’s name, this is a track that is both tame and wild and really captures the intensity of human emotions from feeling numb, to feeling too much.
