Liverpool alternative rock four-piece Branch to Root shares evocative emo-tinged single, ‘Home’.
‘Home’ opens with a touch of the City and Colour’s about it with its sparse guitar, wistful, raw vocal and self reflecting lyrics, channeling a moving and honest acoustic/ post hardcore inspired kind of vibe. As the song progresses, the track alternates between its stripped, emotive dynamics and a grungier, fuller, soundscape balancing light and dark textures to accentuate the conflicted emotions in the song.
As the track builds up to close through tense, minimal strumming and the heartfelt mantra, “promise me nothing until you’re home” seeing Branch to Root cast a spotlight on the song’s themes of bittersweet longing and vulnerable self-reflection. This means ‘Home’ closes with self preservation, yet optimism in a deeply emotive way.
