Scottish singer-songwriter Tommy Ashby releases his new 4 track EP ‘Golden Arrow’ and the visuals for scintillating lead single, ‘Apollo (New Love) out now via Wow and Flutter Records.

Tommy Ashby unleashes a feel-good flood of emotion of epic proportion on new single, ‘Apollo (New Love)’. Produced by Sam Okell, ‘Apollo (New Love)’ pairs organic instrumentation with subtle electronic touches beautifully, conjuring the happy feeling of butterflies in your belly, restoring faith in the pure, simple things in life for anyone who is feeling a bit weighed down by their circumstances.

On the track Tommy explains: “This song was inspired by one particular night, I had been to a gig at Brixton Academy and much of the song describes what we experienced on the way home. London is a strange but magical place to travel through at late at night; the traffic has gone, everything kind of glows in the streetlight. I wanted to capture it all in this song. There’s an explosion of energy in the middle which represents Apollo shooting his golden arrows across the sky and finding new love”.

Despite its lovely layers, there’s an uncluttered feeling to the track that instantly makes its listener feel unburdened and relaxed. Tommy’s uplifting vocal evokes the feeling of sunshine falling on your face and the track shivers with familiar melodic sensibility while also exploring revitalising, ambient textures. ‘Apollo (New Love)’ is a beautiful wake up call in the importance of savouring the moment.

On the visuals, director Fraser Taylor (Swimming Tapes, Slowlines) explains “although the song feels melancholic in places, the underlying message is a very positive one and I wanted to make sure we captured that feeling of new love. The actors are a genuine couple, so we were able to use a lot of footage where they were just being natural with each other.”

Tommy added “the video perfectly pulls onto focus the minutia of a couple and how they interact with each other, you want to keep watching and see where the journey takes you. The song was inspired by one particular night, I had been to a gig at Brixton Academy and much of the song describes what we experienced on the way home.”
