Australian singer-songwriter Hayden Calnin gets reflective on emotive indie track, ‘Fuck Collingwood’.

Hayden Calnin
’s ‘Fuck Collingwood’ combines a brooding conversational lyrical delivery akin to The National with the ethereal, haunting expansiveness of early Bon Iver. Richly textured and highly emotive, Calnin’s raw, deep vocal is entirely captivating, leaving his listener hanging on every achingly honest word amidst a touching, melodic soundscape of electronica and indie folk influences which bleeds melancholy and despondency, before finding catharsis and closure in its stunning climax.

On the track Hayden explains, “I’d been living in and around Collingwood, a suburb of Melbourne, for the last 10 years. It’s such an incredible place, full of live music and art, however it got to a point where I really just needed to get away from it. I’ve loved it, I’ve hated it, and finally I’d left it. ‘Fuck Collingwood’ is reflecting on the things that led me to leave the city for something a little less chaotic”.

’Fuck Collingwood’ is taken from Hayden Calnin’s upcoming EP ‘A Life You Would Choose’, due for release September 13 via Nettwerk.
