Mouth of Ghosts - 'Home'
London alternative rock outfit Mouth of Ghosts take you on an ethereal journey ‘Home’ on compelling new single.
Opening with dark, reverby drenched guitar notes, ‘ Home’ sets a playfully dark tone which is only heightened with tight drums come alongside singer Silke’s haunting, silver-toned vocal which pierces the gritty tones of the instrumentation with startling clarity. As the track develops ,’Home’ sees Mouth of Ghosts pair haunted, dark atmospherics with quick-footed, sparkling, melodic guitar notes, and swirling, soothing trip-hop-esque ambience which balances the track out with a warmer feeling of hope and catharsis, as Silke silkily purrs “feel the sound you want to follow, let it guide you home… step back into my arms”.
‘Home’ is taken from Mouth of Ghosts mammoth 10-track self-titled debut album which sees the band transition on a track by track basis through moody, spectral-infused soundscapes, twirling, dreamy ambient electronic excellence, or kick out with huge, dramatic, dark, cinematic alternative rock soundscapes; sometimes evocatively pulling their listener through each mood in one singular track.
Mouth of Ghosts are one of those dynamically savvy outfits who use their instruments and vocals to suspensefully suck all of the air out of the room, before energetically blowing it right back out again. Their debut album is an emotionally rich record which is dark and light and fragile and potent in all the right places, meticulously crafted to be familiar without ever allowing their listener to get too comfy.
Instead Mouth of Ghosts drive you towards places you feel like you might know, but never take the turning you expect. Their albums sees them navigate each sonic bump and twisted turn in the road with an incredibly skilled hand; making you feel grateful for any whiplash you may receive alongside them on such a thrilling ride.
