Calva Louise - 'Belicoso'

After an impressive debut in February, Calva Louise keep the momentum going with Belicoso, which is out now as the first single from their forthcoming EP 'Interlude For The Borderline Unsettled'.

Belicoso roughly translates from Spanish to mean ‘lairy’, and never has one word been so appropriate for a song. Shouty yet melodic vocals punctuate an earworm of a guitar riff which transforms into a crescendo of synths and lasers, proving once again for all naysayers that, indeed, lasers are still very cool.

The undeniable energy pulsating throughout provokes the involuntary. Try listening without nodding along and you’ll struggle. This is a song destined for the stage; danceable, moshable, fun and fierce. Lyrically, the band have shown restraint, favouring repetition in a chant-like manner to complement their punchy tones.

Calva Louise have always been noisy, but this track oozes confidence and direction, stepping from the safety of their indie sound into something altogether much bigger, sonically; an assault on the senses in the most enjoyable of ways.
