Sophie and the Giants - 'Break The Silence'
‘Break The Silence’ by Sophie and The Giants goes much further than that — it destroys it.
A four piece from Sheffield, Sophie and The Giants have slowly been invading the airwaves with song after stunning song. Each one is anthemic, enjoyable, and simply brilliant — and the latest one, is no exception. Coming just before a UK/EU tour in September/October, and a week before a slot on the Festival Republic stage at Reading and Leeds, ‘Break The Silence’ is a rousing, powerful, and inspirational song that explodes from a simple progression of piano chords to a tremendous, and catchy, drum-and-synth powerhouse of a chorus.
Channeling her inner Florence, with her soulful, powerful vocals — especially in the chorus — Sophie Scott creates a track that scream empowerment, particularly to anyone ever suppressed: ‘together we can learn to break the silence.’
“Break the silence is about using your voice as your most powerful tool, even if it’s scary”, Sophie explains: “It’s about shouting out and making yourself heard.”
Well, with how good the track is, it’ll be hard not to hear it, over and over again. Between its chorus, near- possessing you with a desperate need to sing along; the track’s empowering, unifying message; and the sheer presence of the band — going from support slots with Tom Grennan, Reverend and the Makers, Barns Courtney to headline shows, an abundance of electrifying festival appearances and now their UK/EU headline tour — it’s a certainty that the foursome’s popularity is soon to explode.
A tightly knit blanket of well-produced, well-performed rock music with nary a hole for criticism.
