Jaguar Jonze - 'Beijing Baby'
Jaguar Jonze releases mysterious and contemplative genre-bending indie rock on ,Beijing Baby, which is accompanied by compelling visuals representing loss of identity and the downfalls of constantly pursuing opulent living.
‘Beijing Baby’ sees Jaguar Jonze pairs woozy spaghetti western guitar tones with chilled drum rhythms creating a hazy ethereal pop backdrop to her smokey soulful vocal. A hugely alluring tune that assaults all the senses, slow burning with brooding sentiment as Jonze reflects on false appearances, and the emptiness and pain caused by living obsessively materialistic lifestyles and hiding behind privilege, amidst a swirl of stirring cinematic textures and emotive reflection.
Jaguar Jonze is the music alias of Deena Lynch who also uses art and creativity as a way of embracing intimacy, vulnerability and empowerment via her narrative illustration project Spectator Jonze which is based on mental health seeing Deena interview each subject on what they're willing to share, breaking the stigma around mental health. Deena also has created a gender-subverting photography project Dusky Jonze which is a selection of nude shots taken in the subjects safe spaces and themed around masculinity, femininity, insecurities and taboos concerning the body.
On her multiple projects Deena explains, “Everything I do stems from the need for dialogue - Jaguar being an internal dialogue with my subconscious, Spectator being an external dialogue with others on mental health and the mind and Dusky being a dialogue with the body”.
A fiercely talented and engaging creative with a strong sense of identity and individuality.
