Metronomy have released their sixth album ‘Metronomy Forever’ which recaptures their early success & also see’s the band experiment with a variety of sounds.

Metronomy’s anticipated return gained rapid momentum when they released their lead single ‘Lately’ & since then the bands return has gone from strength to strength. Every album release by the band has been different from the last, that still is the case here going from their last release disco infused ‘Summer 08’ transforming into more of a new wave & funk sound in ‘Metronomy Forever’.

The album starts with instrumental called ‘Wedding’ which flows pleasantly into ‘Whitsand Bay’ which is solid indie tune which recaptures the sound from Metronomy’s early success. The new experimental sounds start early though with 3rd track ‘Insecurity’ which brings together blues & synth creating a tremendous new wave sound. Singles ‘Salted Caramel Ice Cream’ & ‘Lately’ are separated by wonderful electronic & dance instrumentals which break up the album really well.

The variety of sounds still continue through the album with ‘The Light’ being a playful funk tune full of heavy bass along with the song ’Upset My Girlfriend’ which mixes acoustic guitars with electronic synth. The highlight of the album though is the single ‘Wedding Bells’ which is set at a fast tempo & see’s the band experiment with their early sound creating this marvellous indie dance tune.

It’s very hard to not see ‘Metronomy Forever’ feature in any album of the year accolades.
