The Band Explains: Shanghai Blues - 'Home'
Ahead of their biggest headline show to date at London’s Moth Club this week, Shanghai Blues talk us through their plans for it and go into more depth on their most recent single ‘Home’.
Your new single ‘Home’ is out now, what is the track about?
The track is about feeling lost amongst the people around you. That one person that constantly brings you back is your Home.
Where was it recorded? Any behind the scenes stories?
We record all our music with the absolute legend that is Oz Craggs of Hidden Track Studios down in Folkestone. Behind the scenes at any SHANGHAI BLUES gathering is basically necking pints and writing bangers.

Your live performances are known to get quite energetic, does this energy transfer into the studio? Or is there a different side of Shanghai Blues when it comes to that?
We work super hard when we are recording! Oz is a complete professional and we do our best to keep up! We really focus on emulating our massive live-show energy onto the records, we see it as such an essential part of our sound!
However, as soon as we leave the studio we put that energy into necking pints like absolute champions.
You have a tour coming up soon, which city are you looking forward to the most on the tour? How do you keep yourselves occupied while on the road?
Our hearts will always be with London because us is our Home (pun intended). Moth club THIS FRIDAY is going to be beautiful and we are buzzing!
We are super excited for the rest of the tour too, especially Newcastle because we love that city and have played some wicked shows there before (and necked some delicious pints too).
This month, you have your biggest headline show to date at London’s Moth Club. What made you pick that venue? And do you have any special plans for the show?
Special plans: Play big sweaty bangers and neck pints! We can’t wait to show our fans what we have been working on! We are heading to Oslo afterwards for an after party so everyone get the fuck down there and neck pints with the boys!
Shanghai Blues will headline the Moth Club in London on Saturday 21st September 2019, along with a number of UK tour dates this October.
