Lee DeWyze - 'We Were Alive'

Singer songwriter Lee DeWyze shares stirring atmospheric folk on ‘We Were Alive’ taken from his current three-track EP, ‘Castles’.

Lee DeWyze
taps into the islandic style of folk on ‘We We Were Alive’, creating a sense of remoteness and isolation that is completely relatable. Sonically, the track pairs tempestuous, crashing percussive elements with tranquil, aquatic finger picking. DeWyze’s atmospheric vocal elegantly and emotively rises out of the production with a steadiness that offers a reassuring anchor amidst the chaos and suspense.

Thematically, DeWyze explains, “‘We Were Alive’ is a song of reflection of pain and happiness. How we manoeuvre through it, and what we are left with once we have”.

With that in mind, ’We Were Alive’ weaves joyful, jubilant textures through the more melancholic, conflicted tones to create a piece of music that is wholly concerned with making its listener feel all the beautiful, agonizing emotions that make us human. An addictively thrilling piece of music that retains its grandeur, even after multiple listens.
