Kaleo – ‘I Want More’ & ‘Break My Baby’

What’s better than one comeback song? Two and that’s exactly what Kaleo have done to end their three-year hiatus with the release of ‘I Want More’ and ‘Break My Baby’. 

This Icelandic rock group broke through way back in 2016, with ‘Way Down We Go’ making them a global phenomenon alongside support slots for The Rolling Stones and even multiple Grammy nominations. Their popularity has bubbled under the surface since the end of the ‘A/B’ album cycle in 2018, but the work never stopped as they began writing the follow up straight after which we can expect at the end of the year. 

Both of these songs were penned by the frontman JJ Julius Son, who has returned more powerful and soulful than ever while coupling that with a new-found sense of maturity to not only his writing but Kaelo’s sound on a whole. 

‘I Want More’ shows a new-found tenderness to their rock-infused sound, while ‘Break My Baby’ takes them in a new direction with more hooks and grooves than ever before, with Son admitting that there is “too many colours” to just stay in their lane and paint in “black and white”.
