Fickle Friends - 'Pretty Great'

‘Pretty Great’ is the latest single from Fickle Friends and is instantly bouncy, upbeat and has pop perfection written all over it. It’s the second track to be taken from the upcoming second record, which will be out later this year. The song recounts falling in love at a party (“When our lips touched/It felt like love”) although it is a pretty hazy re-telling. The important memories have been held onto (“The only thing that I refuse to forget/Is when you said I was the fucking best”).

The Brighton-based band have taken inspiration from Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night’ and Haim’s ‘Now I’m In It’ that addresses the real life issues that come hand in hand with partying and recklessness.

On writing ‘Pretty Great’, lead singer Natti says - "’Pretty Great came’ about after a long day of writing, starting ideas and not really loving anything we came up with. We called it quits around 9 and opened some wine and listened to a couple Sheryl Crow songs. Jack just kinda started jamming on the guitar and the words and melody literally fell out of my mouth. We wrote the song in like...an hour and didn't know if it was a joke or actually the best thing ever...in the morning we decided it was the latter.”

‘Pretty Great’ feels original and a bit of a bop, too.
